On Thursday July 14th, the ‘Pinta and the ‘Nina’ , replicas of Columbus’ ships will open in Oswego. The ships will be docked at the West Pier, adjacent to the H Lee White Maritime Museum, until their departure early Monday morning July 18th.
Last seen in this area in 2001, the piping plover is on the endangered species list. According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, there were only about 61 breeding pairs in the entire Great Lakes region in 2010.
