Workers at All Saints Church Free Weekly Dinner Turn Donations into Future Meals

Jean Avery, Mary Lou Santoro and Yvonne Shatrau peel apples to store them after cooking for future meals for the Tuesday night free community meal program.Volunteers at All Saints Episcopal Church’s Tuesday night dinner program spent time recently processing a bountiful harvest of local vegetables and fruit for use in future meals.

APW Implements Responsive Classroom to Grades K-6

Parish Elementary School first grade teacher Miss Stephanie Huebner is pictured above during a morning meeting gathering in her classroom with her students. A component of the Responsive Classroom approach introduced to grades K-6 in the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District, morning meetings foster each student’s listening and communication skills as wells as develops language skills. On this particular day the students pictured above worked on greeting each other with a handshake and then joined Miss Huebner in reading the interactive daily message. Responsive Classroom is an approach to teaching and learning that fosters each student’s growth academically as well as socially and emotionally.

Expect a haunting sight in downtown Oswego when the first-ever Oswego Zombie Crawl takes place Oct. 29. The family-friendly event will start at 6 p.m. in Midtown Plaza and wind around Fort Ontario.After a stop at Midtown Plaza, zombies age 21 and over are welcome to continue to the Raven Pub, 39 Bridge St., to see such haunting cinema as the roller derby/zombie romantic comedy “Eight Wheels of Death” and other zombie-themed fare.
