Spellbound Preteens Make Up ‘Spelling Bee’ Cast

The overeager, the painfully shy and the coldly calculating are among the quirky ranks of competitors in SUNY Oswego's "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." The coming-of-adolescence musical comedy will take the stage at 8 p.m. Oct. 14, 15, 21 and 22, with a concluding matinee at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at Waterman Theatre in Tyler Hall. The preview is at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13. With a unique audience-volunteers feature, "Spelling Bee" promises an evening of singing and dancing, laughter and insight. From left in front are Jennifer Pratt, Erik Shuler and Jessica Quindlen, while in back are Nathan Keep, Jaclyn Mienkiewicz and Dylan Duffy.
