Also in September, Thousands of students returned to school. Members of the Oswego Fire Department held a memorial to honor the victims of Sept. 11, 2001. And, law enforcement agencies gathered in Oswego to train with high-tech equipment to detect radiological material before it can be used in a weapon by would-be terrorists.
Also in August, the little girl who contracted the Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus died from the disease. Residency restrictions were placed on Oswego’s out-of-town landlords. The city budget was approved and the farmers’ market goes smoke-free.
Also in July the 24th edition of Harborfest drew thousands of people into the Port City to celebrate. And, Novelis announced a $200 million expansion in Oswego to meet rising automotive demand.
