Fitzhugh, Frederick Leighton, Kingsford Park and Charles E. Riley elementary schools each received $500 through their Home and School Associations to assist with any kind of student clothing needs including hats, mittens, snow pants, underwear or shoes and boots.

Compass marketing administrator Jackie Wiegand said, “The principals at Leighton and Fitzhugh also requested after all of their clothing needs have been exhausted that some of the money be used for their PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) programs and we are glad to be able to assist.”

Wiegand commented, “Compass is thrilled to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause, especially since the winter brings an exceptional need for clothes.”

She noted that Compass Credit Union appreciates being able to do their “Bank at School” program in Oswego’s elementary schools.

She said, “Through this children learn a great deal about the importance of saving money by actually doing it. Oswego school staffs have been nothing, but friendly, courteous and helpful to us.”

Superintendent of schools Bill Crist said, “We appreciate the generous donation that Compass Credit Union has made to our elementary schools. However, the lesson our students are learning regards to saving and banking is an important life-long process.”
