Syracuse Stampede Players Visit Kenney Middle School

Five Swedish hockey players and their coach from the Syracuse Stampede recently visited the 8th grade Spanish classes at Kenney Middle School in Hannibal. The team is a junior hockey team whose goal is to make sure that the players have the opportunity to earn their way to college by playing hockey.

For the first 12 minutes of the game, the 16th-ranked Oswego State men’s basketball team’s perfect conference mark was in serious jeopardy against Geneseo, but the offense came alive just before half and the Lakers battled their way to a 67-56 win.

Mayor Honors Firefighters For Life-Saving Efforts

Mayor Tom Gillen presented a certification of appreciation to the members of the Oswego Fire Department at Tuesday night’s council meeting. Chief Jeff McCrobie and five firefighters were recognized for rescuing Aaron Matthews after he had been swept off the breakwall into Lake Ontario on Feb. 6.
