The War of 1812 Bicentennial Peace Garden Trail was recognized by attendees of the 2012 Empire State Tourism Conference as the winner of the first-ever “Conference Attendees’ Award for Excellence.”

Organized and hosted by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau, the free event will feature a variety of games and outdoor activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., including basketball, shuffleboard, hiking, arts and crafts, a campfire and much more.

New York State has just completed a field test of its brand new QRIS called QUALITYstarsNY.  All types of early childhood programs across the state participated in the field test. The Child Care & Development Council of Oswego County is now ready to take the next steps to make QUALITYstarsNY available to all programs.

The Oswego County Department of Social Services will sponsor an informational meeting from 9 to 11 a.m. April 5, at Liberty Resources, 1850 County Route 57, Fulton, for persons who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents.

New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commissioner Rose Harvey reminds boaters of the dangers of sudden unexpected cold water immersion associated with early season recreational boating outings, especially on small boats.

River of Life Assembly of God church is holding free family movie nights at the church, 815 Oneida St., Fulton. Movies will be shown on the big screen in the church sanctuary starting at 7 p.m. every Friday.

On March 24,  Lakeside Artisans will hold an open house from 1 – 5 p.m. in celebration of the first anniversary of its opening in March of 2011. Refreshments will be served. Lakeside Artisans is an artist’s co-op located at 191 W. First St., Oswego.
