Several sixth grade girls were recently acknowledged for showing good character at Minetto Elementary School. Certificates noting citizenship, responsibility, trustworthiness, respect, caring, and fairness were given to each student.
The annual Oswego High School awards ceremony provided nearly a half million dollars in awards and scholarship to more than 200 students. The majority of awards and scholarships were presented to seniors. However, underclassmen were also recognized with a variety of honors.
Jay Willer of Penfield, a senior at SUNY Oswego, is working as an intern this summer at Eastern Shore Associates Insurance (ESA) in Fulton, it was announced by Martha Murray, agency president.

Double-digit unemployment levels have returned to Oswego County.
Data from the New York State Department of Labor shows that 10.2% of county residents who were in the workforce were without a job and looking for one in May. April’s jobless rate was 9.8%.
The award is given annually to the nominee that best demonstrates growth in services and employment, staying power, community involvement and customer service.
Beginning Monday, July 2 and ending Friday, Aug. 31, offices will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Department of Motor Vehicles offices in Oswego, Fulton and Pulaski will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. during July and August.
