Walk on War of 1812 Day on Great Lakes Seaway Trail

Nine communities along those waters and on the 518-mile Great Lakes Seaway Trail National Scenic Byway offer 1812-theme self-guided walking tours daily dawn-to-dusk. The 3.1 and 6.2-mile walks in Ogdensburg, Sackets Harbor, Oswego, Pultneyville, Youngstown, Lewiston, Williamsville, and Buffalo, NY; and Erie, PA, are sanctioned by the American Volkssport Association.

Half-Shire Historical Society News – August 24, 2012

The Society hosted the annual Redfield Schools Reunion on Aug. 18 from noon until nearly 5 p.m. There were about 25 in attendance and among the number were two graduates of the one time full school district. Doris Brown Allen (1938) and Edward Simson (1942) both were pleased to be present and also spoke on the phone with fellow graduate Yvette “Chiki” Dahl Harmon in Florida.

Artist of Mohawk heritage to explore cultural boundaries in Tyler exhibition

Hannah Claus, a Canadian artist of Mohawk heritage, will exhibit works blending traditional and modern art forms to rethink cultural, historical and personal boundaries from Sept. 7 to Oct. 6 at SUNY Oswego's Tyler Art Gallery. "Une Question de Temps," detail pictured, utilizes graphite on polyester film, along with thread, glue and steel.SUNY Oswego will showcase the work of Hannah Claus, a Canadian artist of Mohawk heritage, in a free exhibition to open Sept. 7, at Tyler Art Gallery. A public artist’s reception will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the gallery. Though Claus cannot attend, SUNY Oswego art historian Dr. Lisa Seppi, curator of the exhibition, will speak.
