Officers and firefighters of the Oswego County Fire Services will hold a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 30. It will be held at the Scriba Fire Station to honor the 43 deceased Oswego County firefighters who passed away during the past year.

The summer of 2012 was a warm one; but it wasn’t a record-break, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service. The average temperature was 71.2 degrees. That is 2.7 degrees warmer than average, Gregway said. Going back to 1855, that ties with the summer of 1876 for fifth warmest on record.
