FULTON, NY – “Lights, Camera, Action!” is soon to be heard when film-making for kids ages 6-18 premieres with the launch of fall programming at CNY Arts Center’s new location in State Street Methodist Church, 357 State St.
Courtney Angell, a local film maker, will offer an eight-week class where each student will write or collaborate on a short screenplay, act and be filmed in a 10-15 minute short film which will then be edited.
Students will receive a finished DVD to take home after the movies are screened for family and friends.
Angell completed and premiered her first feature length film, SMEAD (a documentary) at the Palace Theater in Syracuse in November of 2011.
Besides being a lover of film her entire life, she is also passionate about education with a Masters Degree in Literacy Education from SUNY Oswego. Courtney is also a teacher for the Fulton City School District.
In addition to writing their own play, students will learn screenwriting vocabulary, how to create a conflict scheme, and how to develop interesting characters. Students will work collaboratively on all screen projects in acting and participation. A film screening is planned at the conclusion of the class.

It takes us a step beyond traditional programming and ushers children into film as a media they readily grasp. There is so much potential in the future of this programming.”
