A week after Bridie Manor opened its doors, Larry Lombardo was diagnosed with a chronic, progressive disease that affects the central nervous system, brain, spinal cord and optic nerves: Multiple Sclerosis. Now he’s ready to celebrate a dual milestone that has more than opened his eyes to a world where blood, sweat and tears are much more than a metaphor.
Weather permitting, the Oswego County Health Department will conduct aerial spraying on Tuesday. The aerial spray will begin after 6:45 p.m. and continue until the target area has been treated.
On Tuesday at approximately 7:15 p.m., the funeral procession for SPC Kyle Rookey will proceed from the Oswego County Airport to Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home. The procession will be traveling north on State Route 481. Persons wishing to view the procession are asked to assemble in the lot north of Tim Horton’s on East First Street no later than 7:30 p.m. East Second Street will be closed to traffic between East Bridge and East Oneida streets
On August 21, a group of volunteers led by AmeriCorps member Matthew Harmer helped to clear debris and fallen trees from Fort Ontario State Historic Site; in the process, they also managed to track down a stone monument which marked the location of the 1821 – 1836 lighthouse.
On Sept. 7 and 8, the Oswego City Police Department deployed additional personnel to address quality of life concerns in residential neighborhoods. This detail consisted of uniformed and plain clothes personnel and has been conducted since the start of classes at the college. As a result, several more arrests were made.
Line dance Instruction will begin on Tuesday and will continue on the following Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m.: Sept. 18, 25 and Oct. 9, 23 and 30, announced dance instructor Phil Eno.

Oswego County residents have until the end of September to get rid of household hazardous waste products at the county’s disposal facility in Volney. The collection facility is open Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 to 11 a.m.
Continental Arms Collectors Association, will feature a Revolutionary War encampment at Behling’s Orchard, Potter Road, Mexico. It is scheduled for Sept. 16 from noon to 3:30 p.m.
The Lake Ontario Tributary Anglers Council (LOTAC) will kick off National Hunting and Fishing Day activities at the Salmon River Fish Hatchery with a fishing seminar Friday evening September 21 entitled “King Salmon: Outside the Box.”
