To celebrate safety in Oswego County, Lowe’s is sponsoring a Safety Day on Sept. 22. Nationally certified technicians will be on hand to help you install your child’s car seat correctly from 10 a.m. – noon.
The Oswego Lions Club will hold its “Cow Chip Bingo” fundraiser Sept. 15 at Lighthouse Lanes. This event has had many different formats over the years, and new this year will be a classic car show as well as Lighthouse Lanes’ world famous chicken barbecue.
The Oswego State volleyball team (1-1) struggled to get into an offensive rhythm as it suffered a 3-0 loss (25-11, 25-10, 25-15) to Keuka (3-0) on Tuesday night.

Oswego AmeriCorps is accepting applications for 900-hour positions that will start Oct. 1 at sites around Oswego County. AmeriCorps, a national service program, is known as the domestic Peace Corps.
John Mackie and Dustin Farley posted identical rounds of 77 at the Potsdam Invitational to help the Oswego State men’s golf team tie for second place with a team score of 316 on the par-72 Potsdam Country Club Tuesday.
On August 31 and September 1, the Oswego City Police Department deployed additional personnel to address quality of life concerns in residential neighborhoods. This detail consisted of uniformed and plain clothes personnel. As a result of this effort, several arrests were made.
UPDATE: Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has directed that flags on state government buildings be flown at half-staff on Friday in honor of Kyle Rookey.
Rookey, of Oswego, died Sunday in Afghanistan. He is being remembered for his smile and laughter and for his desire to help everybody.
