Carmella Bifera, 99, of Fulton, who died December 23, 2012, will have a committal service and spring burial 1 p.m. May 8 at Mount Adnah Cemetery, Fulton, with Rev. David Grey officiating.
June Rose, 84, of Oswego, who died January 4, 2013, will have a committal service and spring burial 11 a.m. May 7 at Fairdale Cemetery, Fulton, with Rev. David Grey officiating.
Charles Cieszeski, 89, of Fulton, who died February 16, 2013, will have a committal service and spring burial 11 a.m. May 6 at Fairdale Cemetery, Fulton, with Rev. David Nethercott officiating.
The Oswego County Department of Social Services will sponsor an informational meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. May 6, at the Department of Social Services, 100 Spring St., Mexico, for people who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents. Oswego County also needs Hispanic foster parents.

Port City Roller Derby aims for a meaty fundraiser when it hosts a chicken and pulled pork barbecue from noon to 6 p.m. May 11, at sponsor Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego. Dinners of chicken or pork cost $8 apiece and also will feature sides and a dessert. The event will include a homemade bake sale and a variety of raffles for prizes.
GENIUS officials chose 311 projects as finalists among 765 entries, up from 248 of 663 projects selected in 2012. Olympiad founder Fehmi Damkaci, Oswego’s associate dean of graduate studies and a member of the chemistry faculty, aims for a record number of competitors and mentors to make the trip this year.
Samuel J. Giambo, 80, of Oswego, died Saturday April 27, 2013, after a sudden illness while on vacation.
“The 2012 photo contest was a great success, and that’s why we want to give people another opportunity to show how their friends, family and pets ‘wear it’ when recreating on or near water,” said Jeffrey McCrobie, Oswego fire chief.
