Barbers Clip To Benefit Oswego Youngster
Recently, the barbers of Downtown Barber & Shave Company located in the Canal Commons on West First Street, donated all the proceeds from their sales and tips to a special fund set up in support of local Oswego resident, Makalya Walker. Eleven-year-od Makayla was diagnosed with an abdominal desmoid tumor. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment at Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse.
SAF Plants Tree in Hannibal for National Crime Victim’s Rights Week
Even a little rain couldn’t keep members of SAF (Services to Aid Families) and the community from the 12th Victim’s Rights Tree Planting Ceremony recently. Every year, the ceremony takes place in a different community in Oswego County. This year’s tree was planted outside the Hannibal Town Hall.
CNY Arts Center Expands With Gallery Opening
The bad news is everyone thinks CNY Arts Center is moving out of its present location in State Street Methodist Church, 357 State St., where classes, theatre events, Writer’s Café, Author’s Spotlight and Arty Camp still take place. The good news is CNY Arts Center is expanding with the opening of a second location, an art gallery in downtown Fulton.
Nutrition Collaboration Expands Fulton Community Garden
Community members interested in enjoying their own garden fresh, homegrown vegetables or the beauty of a fresh flowerbed are invited to be a part of this year’s Fulton Community Garden Project. The Nutrition Collaboration is currently soliciting Fulton city residents interested in participating in the community garden project.
Cali Family Makes Donation to The Manor in Memory of Their Mother
The family of the late Emily Cali recently donated a lovely cherry chest in her memory to The Manor at Seneca Hill. Mrs. Cali was a resident of the skilled nursing facility. Along with the chest, the family, which includes Raymond Cali, Michael Cali, Patricia Hart and Linda Brown, donated many games, puzzles, word search books and cards, for the residents and their families to use.
Glidden, Granelli to receive SUNY Oswego academic advisement awards
SUNY Oswego faculty members Lisa Glidden in political science and Steven Granelli in communication studies will receive the 2013 President’s Award for Excellence in Academic Advisement, recognizing their commitment to empowering and encouraging students. The recipients will be honored at the college’s annual Symposium on Learning and Teaching luncheon in the fall.
