The Oswego Independence Parade will feature The Uptown String Band, a member of the Philadelphia Mummers String Band Association. The Independence Celebration, which will be held on July 7 beginning with the Annual Independence Parade at 1 p.m. The theme for this very special event is “Fifty Years of Family, Fun and Fireworks!”
The Fulton Art Association is hosting its first photography competition on August 3 and 4 in the Community Room at the Fulton Municipal Building, 141 S. First St. Entry fees are $6 per entry or pay $20 annual membership fee for the 2013-14 year. Registrations and entry fees must be received by July 19.
Join professionals in the search for spirits at the Starr Clark Tin Shop and Underground Railroad Museum on Main Street in Mexico. The 1800s Tin Shop was the headquarters for the Underground Railroad. It was here that Starr Clark, a local tinsmith, and other Mexico abolitionists made plans to help runaway slaves get to freedom in Canada.
The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary School Spring Art and Music Festival gave students at the school an opportunity to showcase their many artistic and musical talents.
The city originally approved the mural project in the spring of 2009. It formed a collaboration with Oswego High school to create murals in the Riverwalk corridor to brighten the area and prevent future ‘tagging’ of the area by graffiti artists.
