The Cayuga Community College Foundation and the Auburn/Cayuga Community College Alumni Association recently presented 24 area high school seniors with scholarships to help cover the cost of tuition and expenses when they begin their studies at Cayuga this fall.
James F. Okoniewski, a graduate of Fulton’s G. Ray Bodley High School and SUNY Oswego, feels strongly about two things: his love for his hometown of Fulton and the Oswego County area and his belief that mathematics is a key subject for success in life.
The Sandra Harrison Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to an Oswego High School senior. This scholarship recognizes outstanding scholastic achievement and student involvement in the school community. However, this scholarship has an additional dimension.

With a rain shortened program on June 1, an already exciting June 15 racing program at Oswego Speedway has reached another level. Century 21 Galloway Realty Night at the Races on June 15, which features the first driver autograph session of the season presented by Entergy as well as the Grossman St. Amour Make-a-Wish Foundation 2-Seat Supermodified ride, will now see four feature events on the schedule with 150-laps of racing for only $15.
My end-of-session priorities include getting tax breaks for farmers and active military. We need harsher laws for synthetic drug users and dealers on par with our current controlled substance penalties. We need to create laws that establish a protocol for inappropriate and unethical behavior for lawmakers, instead of leaving ethics up to the powers that be.
“As part of a long-term surveillance program, our staff collects mosquito specimens from a number of trap sites around the county,” said Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang. “This year, we will continue to monitor the same areas that had high mosquito activities last year.” Two of these locations are the Toad Harbor and Big Bay swamp areas in the town of Hastings, which are often the first places where EEE appears each summer.
