More than 75 youngsters were properly fit with a new bike helmet by staff from Oswego Hospital’s emergency room at the recent Fulton Bike Rodeo. The participating staff members, who are certified to fit helmets, are committed to reducing the incidents of head injuries resulting from bike and skateboard accidents.
Kate Bowman’s UPK at Fairgrieve School in Fulton learned about booster seats, bike helmets and crossing the road safely while singing and dancing to the Safety Puppets. The program is offered free to PreK, kindergarten and first grades in Oswego County through a grant from Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and coordinated by the Oswego County Traffic Safety Board.
Kingsford Park students from Mrs. Moxley’s fifth grade class had the chance to tour the Oswego Middle School Communications Technology Program. Earlier in the year, the students had a chance to tour OMS, where they were given the opportunity to observe an eighth grade broadcast of The Daily BUC.
For those interested in expanding or starting a small business in Oswego County, there is an online small business training class scheduled to begin in July. The course is scheduled to begin July 8 and run through August 24.
A bit of skill and a whole lot of luck could win you a car or $10,000 for a hole in one at the upcoming Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Social on June 17 at the Beaver Meadows Golf Club in Phoenix. The event sponsors for the 2013 Golf Social are Fulton Savings Bank, KBM Management, Inc., NBT Bank, National Grid and Pathfinder Bank.
Oswego Health staff members offered several hands-on learning opportunities at the recent Fairgrieve Elementary School Health and Science Fair. The students and their family members that attended the event could view actual medical images of various body parts and learn more about the services the radiology department provides to the community.
Spring graveside services for Gladys A. Miner Bowersox, 92, who died on Feb. 3, 2013, will be on June 15 at 11 a.m. in Roosevelt Cemetery, 4434 State Route 49, Schroeppel.

Minetto United Methodist Church will host a free dinner on June 23. Serving will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu will be chicken and biscuits, mashed potatoes, vegetable and dessert. Donations are not expected but will be accepted.
Bridgette Seguin introduced Meg Henderson, Literacy Volunteers program coordinator, to the Fulton Noon Rotary Club at a recent meeting. Henderson gave the Rotarians an update on the activities of the Literacy Volunteers program.
