SUNY Oswego’s Tyler Art Gallery will hold a free public reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 7 for master of arts candidate Meaghan Mulligan. She is a graphic artist whose thesis exhibition will focus on web design and the challenge of keeping up with current trends and practices.

The collaboration between the Fulton Family YMCA and the Oswego YMCA has a new executive director who has a record of strengthening the community. Greg Mills of Oswego will lead the two YMCAs starting July 29. To take the post, he will step down as a longtime board member of the Oswego YMCA and as assistant director of the city of Oswego Community Development office.
All the way from Valencia, Spain, the Divisi Children’s Choir performed at Fulton Alliance Church on Tuesday night. The choir is currently touring through Washington DC, New York City and Boston, but made sure to pay a visit to Fulton. Two of the choralists, Sofia and Raquel Genoves, are daughters of a former Fulton resident, Renee Rice. Their grandparents, Richard and Joyce Rice, still live in Fulton.
At its regular monthly meeting tonight (July 23), the Cayuga County Legislature approved the College’s 2013-14 budget, which includes a 3.5 percent, or approximately $140 a year, increase in tuition. The 2013-14 annual tuition will be $4,090 for full-time students, and the part-time rate will be $165 per credit.

Oswego County Opportunities, one of the top 10 largest private employers in Oswego County, has welcomed five new members to the agency’s staff. The new employees, who will join the OCO’s staff of human services professionals, recently completed the agency’s orientation process and will begin to serve consumers in their respective programs.
For many of us it seems like a lifetime ago when we were asked if we wanted to be seated at the smoking or non-smoking section in our local restaurant. For Zachary and Matthew Metott it was an actual lifetime ago. The Metott boys turn 10 years old this year and have never known a world where smoking was allowed in New York State restaurants.
Faith Cook, of Oswego, was the owner of the winning duck in Hannibal Dollars for Scholars annual “Ducks Over the Dam” race. A total of 57 additional prizes, donated by local businesses, were awarded to race participants. Hannibal Dollars for Scholars provides scholarships to graduates of Hannibal High School each year.
