Douglas B. “Smokey” Horton, life-long resident of the town of Mexico, and dedicated father of two,  proudly announces his bid for re-election as a sitting Judge of the Mexico Town Court. Judge Horton has proudly served his first term as a member of the Judiciary for the Town of Mexico since his appointment in 2008 and subsequent election to the bench.

On August 11 the Hannibal Democratic Committee will host a Steak Bake and Corn Roast picnic/family fun day at Scott’s Pond in Hannibal to benefit the Oswego County Democratic Committee.

The members Oswego High School Class of 2013 are preparing for their next step. The most recent graduates from the local high school will be moving on at colleges, universities, the military and employment.

Residents of Oswego are partnering with the American Red Cross for a “Communities That Care” blood drive in honor of Sadie Wilson on July 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Oswego Elks Lodge, 132 W. Fifth St. A “Communities That Care” blood drive is a Red Cross initiative to engage local citizens and boost regional blood supplies by enlisting community support.

The Oswego County Legislature proclaimed July 26 as Americans with Disabilities Awareness Day to promote education about advocacy, resources and services available to county residents. The certificate was presented to members of Oswego ARISE.
