On Tuesday (August 27) the Oswego City School District Board of Education will meet in the Anthony Murabito Media Center at Oswego High School beginning at 5 p.m. The board will immediately move to executive session at 5 p.m. and it expected that the public portion of the meeting will reconvene at 5:30 p.m.

After studying 90,000 Americans over an 18-year period, Harvard University researchers concluded that as a population, elderly people are remaining more healthy into their later years. While the findings don’t determine what’s at the root of the improved well-being, there’s reason to believe that staying active, eating right and keeping good health-related habits could be the cause.
Community members can learn more about diabetes, its prevention and ways to manage the disease from two Oswego Health physicians during the health system’s free diabetes day to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 30 at Springside at Seneca Hill.
Participants in CYO Summer Drop-in Recreation Program recently enjoyed a visit from the Fulton City Fire Department. The children learned about the duties and responsibilities of a firefighter and were able to tour one of the department’s fire engines.
Two open house and recruitment events will take place in the Oswego YMCA Armory, corner of West First and Utica streets – noon on Sept. 8, and 7 p.m. on Sept. 13. Kids are encouraged to bring any parents or guardians with questions.
Since the 2009-10 season, the Oswego State track and field teams have gone through three head coaching changes, but the program hopes to find stability in the position with their fourth hire, Derek Rousseau. Prior to his first collegiate head coaching position at Oswego, Rousseau worked his way through the ranks as a volunteer coach and assistant coach first at the high school level all the way to his most recent position as an assistant coach for the Merrimack College Warriors last season.
Randy T. Seguin, 49, of Cortland, passed away Saturday August 17, 2013, at home.
