Norton Continues Hot Streak in Oswego Kartway Open Division

For the first time in several weeks, Oswego Kartway was able to run an event without the threat of rain, and as a result competitors turned out in great force with 97 racers signing in last Friday evening. Kartway veteran Corey Norton continued his winning ways in the Open division on Friday as he collected his sixth main event win in eight starts this season.

Labor Day Sunday Worship Set By The River

Fulton’s downtown Gazebo will once again be the setting for worship on Labor Day Sunday September 1 at 10:30 a.m. Three congregations (Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, State Street United Methodist Church, and First United Church of Fulton) will gather to host the outdoor service which will include communion and a food offering for the Salvation Army Food Pantry.

New Lake Level Plan Leaves Questions Unanswered and Shore at Risk

There is a new water level plan proposed for Lake Ontario that will threaten shoreline property, recreational activity, and damage public infrastructure. Plan 2014 has been proposed by the International Joint Commission. The IJC is comprised of six members from Canada and the U.S. It was created to help handle issues in shared waters, such as the Great Lakes. Proponents of the plan say Plan 2014 will return the lake levels to a more natural state, and therefore, create higher highs and lower lows, depending on the time of year.

St. Luke Adult Day Health Care Nurses To Offer Free Health Screenings To The Public At Oswego Farmers’ Market

Nurses from the St. Luke Health Services Adult Day Health Care Program will offer free blood pressure and blood glucose screenings to the public during the Oswego Farmers’  Market on Thursday from 4:30 to 8 p.m. The screenings will be offered at the St. Luke bus, which will be parked on West Oneida Street near the Civic Plaza, at the market.

This drive will benefit the children of all ages who participate in the activities at the center. The goal of the drive is to enhance opportunities for the children campers who really depend on the center.
