As Construction Nears Completion St. Francis Commons Prepares To Welcome Residents

Construction at Oswego’s first Assisted Living Program residence, St. Francis Commons, is nearing completion as staff makes preparations in anticipation of welcoming the first residents in late September. “Building construction has been progressing on schedule and we are now going through the admission process with potential residents who have contacted us,” said Julie Chetney, Senior Living Coordinator of St. Francis Commons.

Oswego’s University Police places high in national traffic-safety competition

University Police at SUNY Oswego recently placed second in a national competition among college and university law enforcement departments, many of them much larger than Oswego’s 21 sworn officers. The International Association of Chiefs of Police recently announced the recognition for the University Police in the 2012 Law Enforcement Challenge, a national traffic safety program that recognizes excellence through a competition within categories of police departments from municipalities, states, federal agencies, military and others.

Lectures to take international perspective on women’s changing status

Opening speakers for this year’s Ernst & Young Lectures Series at SUNY Oswego include three Oswego faculty members and one of Syracuse University’s Hubert H. Humphrey Fellows. The 2013-14 lectures will be at 6 p.m. on selected Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Campus Center auditorium. The series complements the “Gender and Workplace” course, part of Oswego’s women’s studies program.

Ready to Rock the Ride

From left are F5 band members Matt McGiff, Rich Lickfield, Jack Bassette and Don Beshures.Local favorites, F5 will be rocking the after ride celebration of the Child Advocacy Center’s 10th Annual Blue Ribbon Ride Against Child Abuse. To be held September 7, the celebration will begin at 5 p.m. at Lighthouse Lanes, Shampine Drive in Oswego. The event includes a chicken BBQ, drawings for themed gift baskets and other items including an official hockey stick signed by team members of the 2013 Calder Cup finalist Syracuse Crunch.
