The Oswego County Historical Society will host the fourth lecture of the season on September 22 at 1:30 p.m. at the Richardson-Bates House Museum at 135 E. Third St. in Oswego. The event is free and open to the public. Guest lecturer Justin White will present a program entitled “Family Portraits: Stories of the Richardson-Bates Family.” White is a board trustee for the historical society and is also the Oswego County Historian.
The Oswego County Legislature’s Human Services Committee recently presented Sara Sunday with a certificate of appreciation for her 20 years of service to the county.
The purpose of the event is to recognize the merchants that have hosted Christmas kettles, restaurateurs and organizations that have provided Guest Chef dinners, and all others that have supported the work of the Army in Oswego County with their time and resources.
Dr. Heather Douglas of the University of Waterloo, Ontario, will present the 25th annual Warren Steinkraus Lecture on Human Ideals at 2:15 p.m. Sept. 28, in the Historic Lecture Hall, Room 222 of SUNY Oswego’s Sheldon Hall. Titled “Ideals for Responsible Science in Democratic Societies,” the lecture is free and open to the public.

Over the years the look and feel of these centers have undergone a metamorphosis. Baby boomers now in their 60s and 70s continue to lead active lifestyles and are enjoying the benefits of socialization and recreation. As result, OCO’s Dining and Activity Centers have taken on a look and feel that echoes this fresher, more youthful outlook.

The designer, builder and pilot of the remotely-piloted vehicle, RPV, used by the National Geographic Society to make a documentary film on the War of 1812 shipwrecks of the Hamilton and Scourge will speak at the Great Lakes Seaway Trail Blue Byway event on October 5 at SUNY Oswego in Oswego.
In April of 2006, in conjunction with the Oswego County E911 Center, the Oswego Fire Department has been utilizing “Priority-based Emergency Medical Dispatch.”
The system has proven to work very well, and assists fire department management in dispatching the appropriate units on emergency medical services alarms.
