Linda Kieper Quinn, 69, a resident of Woodstock, Vermont, and formerly of Oswego, passed away Saturday December 21, 2013, at Oswego Hospital.
The Oswego City School District was recently notified that they would be the recipient of the Expanded Half Day Pre-kindergarten Grant. The funds received would allow the district to add an afternoon class at Kingsford Park School as well as expand a current morning class at Leighton to full-day.
Edward J. Brady (aka Tarzan), 74, a resident of Brookfield Road in Mattydale, passed away Saturday December 21, 2013, at the Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville.
Surfing the web one afternoon, Brandy Ermini came across an ad for girls to try out for the Miss New York and Miss Teen USA Pageant. “On a whim, I sent in a photo of myself (taken from her Iphone). I never thought any more about it,” she said. Several days had passed and after school one afternoon she was checking her emails and got the surprise of her life.
“Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.” But, where does he live? Ask anyone – young and old: “Where does Santa live?” The answer may be Alaska, New York, or Colorado and they would all be correct. I have been to several “North Poles,” but not the geographic North Pole. I’ll leave that to more intrepid explorers.
Pinewoods Head Start had its annual Make and Take Night at the Fulton Municipal Building recently. They had many crafts to make with the families.
Oswego Health’s Lakeside Heart Center has been accredited by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, signifying the facility offers the highest standards for cardiac rehabilitation. The Lakeside Heart Center, located at 177 W. Fourth St., in Oswego, provides cardiac rehabilitation to community members who have recently experienced a cardiac event.
Fairley Elementary School pre-kindergarten students belted out a handful of songs during a sing-along in the cafeteria on Tuesday. Wearing reindeer and elf hats made of construction paper, nearly two dozen afternoon pre-K students sang traditional songs such as “Jingle Bells.”
Students at Emerson J. Dillon Middle School had the opportunity to shop for family members as they perused a wide selection of gifts that were donated by staff and community members.
