Former WRVO general manager and on-air host John Krauss died Monday June 17, 2013, in Oswego. Krauss was one of the longest serving station administrators in public broadcasting having held various managerial titles for more than 40 years, 14 as general manager. He retired in 2010. Krauss was 64.
The G. Ray Bodley Class of 1973 will hold its 40th reunion on August 9 and 10. On Aug. 9, there will be an informal get together at Battle Island Golf Course beginning at 6 p.m. with hors d’oeuvers and a cash bar. August 10, will feature a buffet dinner with cash bar at Tavern on the Lock, 24 S. First St., Fulton, beginning at 5 p.m.
Kingford Park Home and School Inc. awarded two scholarships in the amount of $500 each to KPS alumni Dylan Morgia and David Culeton. This is the fourth year that KPS Home and School has awarded scholarship dollars to students who attended grades K – 6 at the elementary school. The scholarship dollars awarded are based on the success of the “Polar Express Pajama Party” that is organized by KPS Home and School in December.
Philip “Phadob” F. Pecora, 93, of Oswego, died Monday June 17, 2013, in Oswego Hospital.
Wilbur F. Laws, 86, a resident of County Route 8, passed away on Saturday June 15, 2013, in Baltimore, Maryland.
Wayne “Smitty” A. Smith, 88, of Oswego, passed away on Saturday June 15, 2013, at Michaud Residential Health Services, Fulton, NY, with his loving daughter by his side.
The Oswego County Autism Task Force is pleased to announce the availability of funding available for not for profit organizations to provide services and other opportunities to individuals and families who are touched by an Autism Spectrum Disorder. If you are proposing a summer activity, applications due by June 30 and funding will be awarded by July 1. If you are looking at an activity to take place in the fall or winter, please have your application in by August 1.
The sights, sounds, and smells of camp and garrison life during the French and Indian War will greet visitors to Fort Ontario State Historic Site in Oswego the weekend of June 29 and 30. Encampments of British, French and Native American troops and warriors who fought each other at Oswego during the 1750s will be displayed from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 29 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 30.
