Hailey Harp, Frederick Porter II and Daquan Davis joined other participants in Oswego County Opportunities’ Rural After School Program at Fulton Junior High School to help clean up the grounds around the school. The cleanup project was just one of the many activities that students in OCO’s Rural After School Program are involved in.
The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified home health care, long-term home health care, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.
Tickets are now available for the 12th Annual Jamboree Fundraiser to benefit Parents of Special Children, Inc. The event will be held on May 19 from noon until 4 p.m. (with dinners served until 3 p.m.) at the Scriba Fire Department.
Residents of Hannibal are encouraged to clean up their lawns this weekend. Any leaves, stray branches, brush, cuttings or anything that grows are welcome to be bagged and placed curbside. Any color garbage bags are acceptable. On May 6 crews will be out picking up the bags free of charge.

With summer soon upon us, I would like to take this moment to talk about how the Oswego County Health Department is preparing for the upcoming mosquito season. We will begin staff training during the last week of May and move into full surveillance the following week.
Executive Director of Oswego County Opportunities Diane Cooper Currier, and Incoming Board President Connie Cosemento recognized outgoing board members at OCO’s annual meeting held April 24 at Springside at Seneca Hill.
The walk/run is part of the 14th Annual Oswego County Hospice Cup Regatta. Money raised from the event supports Oswego County Hospice patients and their families. Registration forms for the Walk/Run for Hope are available at the Oswego and Fulton YMCAs and at the Friends of Hospice office at 34 E. Bridge St. in Oswego.
Jake Davenport will be touring this summer as a drummer with Ben Gallaher and his band of Nashville. He is a graduate of G. Ray Bodley High School. The band’s tour gets under way on May 3.
