A social studies unit on ancient civilizations culminated with presentations and a hallway display of projects for Granby Elementary School sixth-graders. Students in Joe McNamara’s class studied ancient Egypt and spent nearly three weeks creating projects that depicted various aspects of Egyptian culture.

Oswego State men’s basketball team’s Kyle Covley has been named the SUNYAC Player of the Week for the week ending November 24, 2013. Covley helped the Lakers to a perfect 3-0 record on the week with wins over Ithaca College, St. Lawrence University and Hartwick College.
James Ladue, a SUNY Oswego alumnus and national weather scientist, will speak from 3 to 4 p.m. Dec. 6, in Room 175 of the college’s Richard S. Shineman Center for Science, Engineering and Innovation about extreme natural disasters, as well as how to improve communications with the public and the resiliency of our communities to severe weather.
The Oswego County Historical Society will host the annual Christmas Open House on December 8 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Richardson-Bates House Museum at 135 E. Third St. in Oswego. The event is free and open to the public.
