Actor and SUNY Oswego alumnus Carl Whidden will present “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens — performing all of the characters himself — at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6, in Hewitt Union ballroom at SUNY Oswego. Whidden’s evening in Oswego offers a fresh approach to the story. The veteran artist and 1975 Oswego graduate brings Dickens’ characters to life, from nocturnal spirits to the boy who fetches a turkey on Christmas morning.
Neil P. Devendorf, of Fulton, has been selected for membership into Alpha Psi Omega, the national honorary society for theater, at St. Lawrence University. Devendorf is a member of the Class of 2016 at St. Lawrence and graduated from G. Ray Bodley High School.
The children at Fairgrieve Head Start/UPK celebrated fire safety month and learned about fire safety from John Casler, a volunteer firefighter and father of a student in the classroom.
The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team completed a sweep of Chatham University on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 victory. It was the Lakers’ third straight shutout, including second in as many days, as the team improved to 6-1-1 on the year and 4-1-1 in conference competition.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Cindy Garrett entertained the club with a slide show of Ireland. Cindy, who has just returned from a 12-day trip, began her story in Dublin.
