World’s Largest Christmas Project Collecting Gifts in Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, Oneida Counties
Now through November 25, churches in Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida, and Oswego counties will be collecting Operation Christmas Child shoe box gifts packed with school supplies, hygiene items and small toys to go to boys and girls ages 2-14 in countries struggling with conflict, poverty, and disaster around the world.

The election season is over and the holidays are upon us. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the people of Fulton for their support during the last six years. Serving on the legislature has been a wonderful experience, one that will remain with me always.
Oswego County Offices Are Closed Nov. 28 and 29
All Oswego County offices, including the solid waste transfer stations and recycling drop-off centers, will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28 and 29 for Thanksgiving.
Fulton Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Slated December 5
The city of Fulton Department of Parks and Recreation has announced that the 10th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Jubilee will be held on December 5. The official City Christmas Tree is located across from the Fulton Municipal Building at 141 S. First St.
Red Kettle Fundraiser Under Way
The Oswego County Salvation Army kicked off its Red Kettle fundraising campaign on Nov. 15. The goal this year is $110,000. Volunteers are needed to ring the bell.
Local Efforts Launched to Address Tobacco Use Among Pregnant and Parenting Women
Even though this is the 38th year of the Great American Smokeout, tobacco use is still the leading cause of preventable disease and death killing more than 25,000 New Yorkers every year. Locally, a group of health and human service providers are launching a new cessation program for pregnant and parenting women as part of the Great American Smokeout.
Oswego County Harvest Dinner Successfully Showcases Locally Raised Foods
Upwards of 200 guests enjoyed a feast of locally raised foods at the Oswego County Harvest Dinner on October 18. The dinner was held at The American Foundry in Oswego and the 2013 event proved to be as successful in showcasing Oswego County agriculture as it has been in the three preceding years.
OCO Employee Cited For Perfect Attendance
Karyn Atkinson, resident counselor with OCO Developmental Disabilities Services, was recently recognized for achieving perfect attendance during the past year.
It’s Official: Zemken Sets Full-Time Oswego Speedway Schedule
