Schumer, Gillibrand Announce More Than $1.7 Million For New Drinking Water System In Volney
U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today (Jan. 31) announced a $1,765,000 loan and grant for the town of Volney in Oswego County to bring clean drinking water to more local residents. The federal investment is awarded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program.
Raymond ‘Pete’ Carswell, 70
Raymond “Pete” Carswell, 70, of Hannibal, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Oswego Hospital following a long illness.
Forty GRB Students are selected for the National Honor Society
NHS promotes the recognition of students, juniors and/or seniors, based on four criteria: scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Scholarship is based on academic achievement and students must have an average of at least 89.5 percent to be considered for membership.
SUNY Oswego continues national ‘Best Value’ ranking
For the third consecutive year, the Princeton Review and USA Today have named SUNY Oswego one of 150 “Best Value” colleges and universities in the nation. The list of 75 public and 75 private institutions appears in the book “The Best Value Colleges: The 150 Best-Buy Schools and What It Takes to Get In,” soon to be published by Random House and the Princeton Review.
Girl Scout Cookies Go On Sale Saturday
The annual Girl Scout Cookie sales week starts Saturday and the girls of Troop 101 are ready to take orders for all the favorites: Do-si-does, Dulece de Leche, Samoas, Savannah Smiles, Tagalongs, Thank U Berry Munch, and of course Thin Mints and Trefoils. Troop 101 will be on hand at Wal-Mart in Granby throughout the day Saturday and also on “walk about” during the week taking cookie orders.
