New Program Combines Boxing, Education in Port City
The Oswego Boxing Club is located at 177 W. First St. and offers more than just boxing. It provides a venue to work out and get fit. And, it also stresses the importance of a good education, according to the co-owners. Classes are offered to men and women of just about any age.

Jeffrey Wagner, utility consumer program specialist, Office of Consumer Policy, State of New York, was the speaker at a recent Fulton Noon Rotary Club meeting. Jeff works in the Syracuse office for the Public Service Commission and deals with consumer issues throughout Central New York.

A spectacular comeback capped off by a driving lay up with three seconds to go brought Oswego High boys’ varsity basketball players a 54-52 victory over visiting Auburn on Wednesday at Power Gym in Oswego.

Puppets For Safety in Phoenix
150 Kindergarteners in Phoenix attended a “Puppets For Safety” show sponsored by a grant from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. Topics covered were bike and helmet safety, pedestrian safety and booster and seatbelt safety. Plenty of dancing and singing occurred!

Plans Under Way For 80th Anniversary of Oswego’s Lighthouse
The H. Lee White Maritime Museum is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse this year. A Lighthouse Events Committee has been formed to work on several activities. The Museum Lighthouse Committee will be holding a planning meeting on January 26 at 2:30 p.m. Interested members of the community are invited to attend this meeting.
