Dr. Rani Jha, master painter and teacher at the Mithila Art Institute in Madhubani, stopped at Volney Elementary in late February to give students a lesson in art and culture.

JCB Drama Club presents ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ March 13-15
After months of rehearsals, members of the John C. Birdlebough Drama Club are ready to take the stage for their spring musical production of “Thoroughly Modern Millie.” Set in New York City in 1922, “Thoroughly Modern Millie” is about a young girl from Kansas who comes to New York in search of a new life for herself.

‘Oliver’ onstage at Sandy Creek High School Friday and Saturday
Sandy Creek High School will present the musical Oliver on March 14 and 15. Showtimes will be at 6 p.m. on both days. Tickets for the show are $5 for students and senior citizens and $7 for adults and will be available at the door.

Lura Sharp Elementary to present ‘Aladdin’ on March 14, 15
The Lura Sharp Elementary School production of “Aladdin” will be held on March 14 and 15 with Friday’s show at 7 p.m. in the elementary school auditorium and a matinee performance on Saturday at 1 p.m. Tickets for the show are $3 for adults, children under four are free.

Student’s musical talents were on display March 4 when they took the stage at EJD. An Evening of Jazz featured the EJD Jazz Band, the Phoenix Varsity Jazz Band and special guests, All That Jazz.

Boating Safety Classes To Be Held
Oswego County Sheriff Reuel A. Todd has announced that four Boating Safety Courses will be held beginning in April. There is no charge for the training.

Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Unit 2 Returned to Service
Constellation Energy Nuclear Group’s Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Unit 2 is back online and achieved 100 percent yesterday (March 9) afternoon. Station personnel completed necessary repairs and post-maintenance testing in order to return the unit to service.

In an effort to push the Budweiser International Classic 200 entry list beyond the 40 mark, Oswego Speedway has committed a minimum of $500 to start the weekend’s last chance qualifier, known as the ‘Bud Light B-Main.’
