Phoenix Central School District Named Best Community for Music Education
For the fourth consecutive year, the Phoenix Central School District has been recognized by the National Association of Music Merchandizers as one of the country’s Best Communities for Music Education. The distinction acknowledges schools and districts across the United States for their commitment to and support for music education.
Seaway Opens 56th Navigation Season
The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation marked the opening of the Seaway’s 56th navigation season today (March 28), with the transit of Algoma Central Corporation’s newly built ship, the Algoma Equinox, through Lock 3 of the Welland Canal. The vessel is the first of eight Equinox-class ships that are being purpose-built for trade in the St. Lawrence Seaway.

Helen Schilling is just one resident who looks forward to a regular visit from “Dolly,” a friendly Shetland Sheep Dog owned by employee Elena Oldenberg.

‘Run for Dennis’ Raises $10,000 For Bladder Cancer Research
“Over $10,000 was raised by more than 450 participants in the third annual Run For Dennis 5k Run/Walk, held on March 15 to honor the memory of Oswego resident Dennis Pacheco (5/28/59-3/17/11), a victim of bladder cancer,” it was announced by Jessica Newson, race director and Pacheco’s daughter.
Health Department Announces Clinic Schedule for Week of March 31
The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified home health care, long-term home health care, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.
Good Friday Service Planned
The Oswego Evangelical Alliance invites the community to a Good Friday Service on April 18. It will be held at 7 p.m. at the Oswego Alliance Church, 371 Thompson Road.
‘Look at Oswego County’ at Oswego Library
In April, the Oswego Public Library will be hosting its first “Looking @ Oswego County.”
The history of the town of Parish will be displayed on the main floor of the library until the end of April.
