The Conservative Party Committees that constitute the 24th Congressional District (Onondaga, Wayne, Cayuga and Oswego) have chosen to endorse former US Attorney John Katko as our candidate to challenge Dan Maffei in this year’s Congressional election.
The Water Treatment Plant is in need of upgrades to improve energy efficiency, water production capacity and reduce operational and maintenance costs, the department manager said. The proposed project will increase the plant’s overall operations, and, in the long-run, save the city millions; in essence paying for itself, project developers said.
On March 20, the students within the Fulton City School District in grades UPK – 12 will have an early dismissal. Grades 7 – 12 will dismiss at 10:30 a.m. and morning Pre K – 6 will dismiss at 11:15 a.m. There will be no afternoon UPK classes.
The Oswego County Legislature’s Public Safety Committee recently presented Paul VanDyke with a certificate of appreciation for his 30 years of service. VanDyke is a senior telecommunicator Oswego County E-911.
Liberty League commissioner Tracy King recently announced the 234 winter sport student-athletes who have qualified for the league’s All-Academic Teams in their respective sports. Ashlynn Palmitesso of Fulton, a sophomore on the women’s basketball team, is among the honorees. Ashlynn is in RIT’s biomedical engineering program.
Volney Elementary School students attended a spirit assembly Feb. 28 in recognition of their positive behavior and for being role models. Principal Lisa Garofalo gave certificates to one student from each classroom that exemplified the character trait of honesty.
On February 28, classes at the school commemorated the 100th day of the 2013-14 school year with celebrations to recognize months of hard work and academic achievements. Students came to school dressed as 100 year old versions of themselves and classroom lessons for the day revolved around the number 100.
The Port of Oswego Authority (POA) has examined three decades of revenues from its operations, starting from 1985. The fiscal year for the POA starts April 1, and ends on the following March 31. A very interesting statistic in each audited report is the total revenues for the fiscal year.
The Salmon River International Sport Fishing Museum will host a presentation by Gus Aull III of Camillus at 3:30 p.m. March 16. Aull will share childhood memories and display his collection of items that were once owned by “Outdoor Life” fishing editor and author Ray Bergman.
