Oswego School District Recognizes Retirees

Laura Ryder, the Director of Literacy and former Frederick Leighton Elementary School Principal; and Tim Bristol, who served the district for 34 years as an auto mechanic, were recognized by Superintendent of Schools Ben Halsey and Board of Education President Kathleen Allen. Other employees whose letters of retirement were also accepted included Frederick Ensworth, Pauline Vona and Thomas Dehm.

Free collaborative problem-solving training to be held in New Haven

Oswego County families, educators and service providers will meet to explore how to better understand how to work effectively with children’s challenging behavior using collaborative problem solving at 6 p.m. June 11 in the New Haven Elementary School library. The training is free through a grant funded by Family Support Services in the state Office of People with Developmental Disabilities.

Law Enforcement Carries Torch For Special Olympics

For decades, police officers throughout Oswego County have participated in the annual “Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.” On Tuesday, officers representing the cities of Fulton and Oswego, the county and others carried on the tradition. LeVea’s Parole Denied – For Now

William LeVea, the Fulton man who recklessly caused the death of Christopher Spack when he repeatedly rammed his vehicle into the man’s pick-up truck, has been denied a request for an early release from prison. Donna Williams, who was Spack’s girlfriend, and spearheaded a Moveon.org petition to help keep LeVea in prison, said she was overwhelmed when she heard today’s news.
