The deadline for submitting nominations to the Zonta Club of Oswego for the Amelia Earhart Woman of Achievement Award is July 10. This is the 30th anniversary of the award which is presented annually to a women whose hard work and dedication has made a difference in the lives of families in the Oswego community.
Brady Holbrook was born in Oswego Hospital on June 25, 2014.
Izayah Ezekial Perez was born in Oswego Hospital on June 23, 2014.
The State University of New York at Potsdam recognized more than 900 candidates for graduation during the College’s 2014 Commencement celebrations. At Commencement, SUNY Potsdam honors students who have either earned their degree or are eligible to graduate during that calendar year.
Several innovative programs have helped Oswego Hospital lower the rate of its hospital-acquired conditions to one of the lowest in Central New York. According to a report recently released by Kaiser Health News, Oswego Hospital has a hospital-acquired condition score of 1.7.
“That’s it. It was a rather uneventful month,” Gregway said. “Even the thunderstorms didn’t really amount to much. The average temperature was 1.1 degrees higher than average. Total precipitation was 0.62-inch lower than normal.
The Professional Journalists and Communicators of Oswego County has announced the recipient of the organization’s Muriel Allerton Scholarship Award. Awarded annually to a graduating high school senior from the county who is planning to continue their education in a communications-related field. Because of the quality of worthy candidates for this year’s scholarship the PJC unanimously decided to award a second scholarship.
The second round of the 2014 Oswego Speedway and Novelis Fan Can Chase will take place on Saturday at the Speedway as a part of Christmas in July at the ‘Steel Palace’ from 3-6 p.m. Fans are encouraged to bring their recyclable aluminum cans to the Speedway prior to racing and redeem those cans for a chance at Speedway race tickets and prizes.
“I am happy to announce after working with Oswego City-County Youth Bureau Director Brian Chetney, Youth Activities coordinator Dawn Mattot and AmeriCorps Director Kathy Andolina, the park attendant program will be returning to the city of Oswego,” Sixth Ward Council Eric VanBuren told Oswego County Today.
