The Children’s Museum of Oswego (CMOO), would like to invite the public to an upcoming Visioning Workshop on July 7, starting at 5 p.m. The session will be held in the community room of the Oswego Public Library, 120 E. Second St.
SUNY Oswego will exhibit works of painter and Oswego native Rose Besch from July 19 to Sept. 6 at Oswego State Downtown. The exhibition, titled “Metamorphosis,” will open from 2 to 4 p.m. July 19, with an artist’s reception at the gallery and branch of the College Store at the corner of West First and Bridge streets.
At its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on July 1, the City of Fulton Republican Committee unanimously voted to endorse Republican candidate Salvatore Lanza for Oswego County Family Court Judge.
Steven W. Cooper, 31 of Phoenix, passed away Monday June 30, 2014.
Joyce V. Clary, 74, of Martville, passed away on Friday June 27, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, after a brief illness.
Franklin V. Bartlett, 91, of Fulton, passed away Tuesday July 1, 2014, at Oswego Hospital.
On Wednesday (July 2), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office recovered a 1988 Volvo station wagon from the Oswego River north of Lock 5 in Minetto. A sonar company hired by the NYS Canal Corporation had discovered the vehicle. Further investigation found it had been reported stolen to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office in 1996.
The Oswego City School District still has openings for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program. The program is designed for children who were born between Dec. 2, 2009, and Dec. 1, 2010, and is offered at no cost.
On June 14, the 11 students of the county’s Search and Rescue Academy completed their final field testing and certification, culminating classroom and field work that started in March and entailed more than 108 hours of instruction.
