The fourth annual City of Fulton employees’ golf tournament fundraiser, held July 26, at Emerald Crest Golf Course, Palermo, raised $4,500 for Catholic Charities of Oswego County said Tom Schimpff, event chairman.
Christopher Wiehl, magician and SUNY Oswego graduate student, was the guest of Sue Witmer at a recent Oswego Rotary meeting. Wiehl has been performing his magic professionally for the last seven years in New York State and around the country. He was first introduced to magic by his grandmother when he was four years old and has been interested ever since.
One of the emergency notification sirens surrounding the nuclear power plants in Scriba inadvertently activated during a thunderstorm this morning, possibly as the result of a lightning strike. There is no emergency at the three nuclear power plants. Dale Currier, director of the Oswego County Emergency Management Office, said siren repair personnel from Exelon Generation responded to the site in the town of Oswego as soon as they were notified the siren was sounding.

The Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce invites you to celebrate the harvest season at the Annual CNY Great Pumpkin Festival. Scheduled for October 4 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and October 5 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the CNY Great Pumpkin Festival will fill Washington Square Park with crafters, fresh from the farm produce, food vendors, music, and games and rides for children of all ages.
Wooden-Apple Farmstead Music and Art Festival, in collaboration with CNY Arts Center, returns on August 31 starting at 9 a.m. with a pancake breakfast and local musicians onstage throughout the day running 10 a.m. until dark. The festival also includes a songwriting contest, camping, grilling, and another community mural for freestyle painting fun.

At a recent Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Linda Eagan introduced Jiancheng Huang, Public Health Service Director for Oswego County. He presented a program about some of the health challenges facing Oswego County. He reported that Oswego County ranked at the bottom of the 62 counties in New York State regarding self-behaviors.

This benefit for Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County takes place on September 19, at the Oswego Elks Lodge. Meg Henderson, coordinator of OCO’s Literacy Volunteers Program, has watched another aspect of friendly competition develop over the past few years: Team themes and costumes.
