Former NASCAR Whelen Modified Series champion and open-wheel driving veteran Bobby Santos has officially entered Oswego Speedway’s 58th annual Budweiser International Classic 200 for Novelis Supermodifieds set for August 31. Santos, who claimed the 2010 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour championship, enters the Budweiser International Classic as the driver of the Mike Barbera Racing, Muldoon chassis, Top Quality Construction No. 45 machine.

Oswego County Plans Second Aerial Spray after New EEE Results

The Oswego County Health Department reported today that the Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus has been found in five new mosquito samples collected recently. Four were taken from the Toad Harbor Big Bay Swamp area in the town of West Monroe and near the village of Central Square where aerial spraying was conducted on Aug. 1. The fifth was a sample collected from traps in the northern portion of the town of Palermo.

Fort Ontario Hosts Civil War Artillery Event Aug. 16 – 17

On Aug. 16 and 17, Cushing’s Battery, 4th U.S. Artillery Regiment, will host a Civil War artillery event at Fort Ontario State Historic Site in Oswego. Re-enactors will conduct tactical weapons demonstrations or battles both days at 1 p.m. The Civil War shopping mall will be open for those wishing to acquire reproduction period clothing, knick knacks, toys, and other interesting historical items or accoutrements. Regular admission will be charged.
