Aerial spraying of the Toad Harbor – Big Bay Swamp area in Oswego County is cancelled this evening, Tuesday, Sept. 2, due to weather conditions. Weather permitting, aerial spraying will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 3, between 6 and 9 p.m. Residents will be notified through the news media and information will be posted on the Oswego County Web site at www.oswegocounty.com.
A Community Garage Sale will be held at Bullhead Point Pavilion on September 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tables and space are available at no cost, hosted by Friends of Fulton Parks. All are invited to find some bargains, sell your reusables, enjoy the lakeside view or learn about the Friends of Fulton Parks.
New kindergarteners at Fairley Elementary started their educational journey with an ice cream social on Aug 28. Parents and children first gathered outside for an introduction to the Hannibal Central School District transportation system. Children with no previous bus experience had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with a school bus as they rode for the first time.
On September 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the annual Kites Over Fort Ontario event will be held on the spacious grounds of Fort Ontario State Historic Site. In addition, antique and classic cars, trucks, military, and other vehicles are invited to set up in the fort’s shady grove. Kite experts from around the United States and Canada, including members of New York Kite Enthusiasts (NYKE) and noted kite historian Tom Shanken will help kite fliers of all ages and skill levels.
It was just roughly three weeks ago when the nation’s attention turned to St. Lawrence County, where two young Amish girls were taken from their home. We all felt an immense sense of joy, relief and gratitude, as well as a tremendous sense of pride in all members of our community who joined in the search, when the girls were reunited with their parents and siblings.
