Oswego Health welcomes David Wang, MD, of CRA Medical Imaging, as the new chief of service for medical imaging. Dr. Wang has more than 20 years of experience as a physician radiologist. A native of Michigan, Dr. Wang earned his medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich.
CNY Arts Center announces the return of “TH3 Happy Hour,” October 16 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Arts in the HeArt Gallery, 47 S. First St. The public is invited to see what’s new in the gallery and visit with local artists.
Curtain time will be 7:30 p.m. on three Fridays and Saturdays — Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, Nov. 7 and 8, and Nov. 14 and 15 — for Richard O’Brien’s 1973 play, which has had a cult following since the film version, titled “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” premiered in 1975. There is no preview or matinee for the college’s play, and the performance is suggested for ages 16 and over.
Tory Welsch from Oswego, a junior this fall at the State University of New York at Geneseo, has been named an Edgar Fellow at the college, one of 41 new recipients of the honor.
The annual turkey supper and bazaar will be Saturday at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Serving will be 4 to 7 p.m. The supper will be turkey and all the fixins’.
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, is now accepting registrations for “Six Steps to Better Balance,” a six-step approach developed by Betty Perkins-Carpenter, Ph.D., senior fitness productions. “Dr. Betty” is a nationally renowned expert on falls prevention who has made improving balance easy for everyone.
The physicians and staff of Oswego Health will take part in activities throughout October that promote national Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Perhaps the most important action community members can take is to encourage the women they know to have a mammogram.
The city of Oswego along with the Oswego Firefighters’ IAFF Local #126 have begun their in-house campaigns in support of United Way. The United Way’s annual campaign has a tremendous impact on the health and well-being of communities throughout Oswego County.
