More than community members came together last year, dressed in pink, to raise awareness of breast cancer by forming a human pink ribbon in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year, the community is invited to join OCO Cancer Services Program Partnership at the Pulaski Health Center for the annual Human Ribbon Celebration from 9 a.m. to noon.

Cancer Services Program Partners with Pulaski Health Center to Make a Human Pink Ribbon

Carolyn Handville, coordinator for the OCO Cancer Services Program Partnership, has made appearances throughout the community disseminating information on the free clinical breast exams, mammograms and other free cancer screenings including pap/pelvic exams and colorectal cancer screenings that are offered through the CSPP. The Cancer Services Program and the Pulaski Health Center’s efforts to raise awareness of breast cancer will culminate on October 25 when they form the fifth annual Human Pink Ribbon in Oswego County.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Oswego County Opportunities’ Services to Aid Families program is the domestic violence and rape crisis program that serves Oswego County. The goal of SAF is to raise awareness of the epidemic of domestic violence in Oswego country and to educate individuals on the impact of domestic violence in its communities.

Legislators Hear About ‘Great Things’ At CCC’s Fulton Campus

“There is some exciting news at the Fulton campus. There are some great things happening there,” CCC Interim President Gregory DeCinque told members of the Oswego County Legislature Thursday afternoon. They are forming several community partnerships he pointed out. Some of their partners include the YMCA, BOCES and the city of Fulton. “It reduces duplication. It allows us to partner with mission appropriate organizations and some very, very good things are starting to happen,” DeCinque said.
