Erin Noto will assume the duties of principal at OHS effective Oct. 27 at a starting salary of $90,000. She has also worked in the Mexico School District and has taught and been a leader down in Charlotte, NC, for a number of years.

Ten British tour operators visited Oswego County on September 20 and 21 as part of their week-long tour throughout New York State. The tour was set up by I Love New York’s International Marketing Division and a part of the Responsible Travel Trade Familiarization Tour. Tour participants included writers, sales managers and product managers for a number of British travel publications and touring companies. The group spent Sept. 20 night at the Tailwater Lodge in Altmar and woke up early Sept. 21 for a three-hour drift-boat fishing trip on the Salmon River.
The Oswego County Legislature’s Infrastructure, Facilities and Technology Committee presented David Green with a certificate of appreciation for his 28 years of service to the county. Green was a heavy equipment operator/Highway Worker III with the Oswego County Highway Department.
An ad on advanced manufacturing, produced by Steve Chirello Advertising, earned first place at the Northeastern Economic Developers Association’s 2014 literature and promotions competition for client Operation Oswego County.
G. Ray Bodley High School Principal Donna Parkhurst announced that MaKenna Cealie has been named a Commended Student in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, was presented by Parkhurst to the scholastically talented student at the school.

Lieutenant William Clark recently retired after 20 years of service with the city of Fulton Police Department. Clark began his career at the Syracuse Police Academy in April of 1994. During his career, Lt. Clark was decorated several times including in 2001 when Clark received an honorable Service Award for his role in investigating the Diana Cooper homicide.
The State University of New York Athletic Conference has named Oswego State field hockey goalie Sarita Charap its Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 5, 2014. This is the second time the freshman has earned the recognition in just six weeks. In the Lakers’ only game during the week, Charap held host Keystone College scoreless.
