On November 7, 63 brothers from Oswego and adjoining districts attended the Grand Lecture’s convention for the Oswego District. The meeting was held at the Oswego Masonic Hall/Lake City Lodge No. 127 at 765 E. Seneca St. A sumptuous turkey dinner with all the fixings was provided by Lake City Victoria Order of Easter Star prior to the meeting.
There will be a free child passenger safety seat check at the Oswego Town Volunteer Fire Department, 640 County Route 20, on Saturday. The hours will be from 9:30 a.m. – noon.

The board of directors of the Oswego YMCA is pleased to announce the appointment of Kerrie Ann Webb as the new chief executive officer/executive director. Kerrie brings with her a passion for the mission and values of the YMCA and the desire to work closely with the community, staff and board to have a positive impact in the community. She has been the respite director of the Oswego YMCA for the past two years.
All Oswego County offices, including the solid waste transfer stations and recycling drop-off centers, will be closed Nov. 27 and 28 for Thanksgiving. The Bristol Hill Landfill and the Materials Recovery Facility will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 28, for major haulers only. The solid waste transfer stations and recycling drop-off centers will resume regular hours Nov. 29.
SUNY Oswego students’ words will meet music and multiple media as “Graphic Flash 4” opens with a free public artists’ reception at 2 p.m. Nov. 22, in the gallery at Oswego State Downtown, corner of West First and Bridge streets in Oswego.
SUNY Oswego’s Fall Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Arts exhibitions will open with a free public artists’ reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 21, in Tyler Art Gallery at Penfield Library. Both of the free exhibitions will run through Dec. 12 on the library’s second floor.
The Lake Ontario counties including Oswego, Cayuga, Wayne, Monroe, Orleans and Niagara, the city of Oswego and the town of Greece are jointly undertaking an update and expansion of the Lake Ontario “Regional Dredging Management Plan” completed in 2000. A public meeting to review findings and receive public feedback will be held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 at the Sodus Point Village Hall, 8356 Bay St., Sodus Point.
More than 200 veterans, and civilian men, women and children turned out in force Tuesday morning at Fulton’s Veterans Memorial Park to honor and thank the people who fought for this country.
In recognition of November being National Runaway Prevention Month OCO’s Homeless Services will be busy spreading the word and educating the community on the issue of homeless youth in Oswego County. Staff members from OCO Homeless Services will be educating the public on what services are available for homeless youth in the county and what they can do to help.
