Katko Named Lead On Bipartisan Task Force To Combat Terrorist, Foreign Fighter Threat

U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, and U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson, ranking member of the Committee on Homeland Security, announced the creation of a bipartisan “Task Force on Combating Terrorist and Foreign Fighter Travel” in response to the threat from extremists fighting overseas and the danger they pose to the United States. Rep. John Katko was named the Republican Lead for the Task Force.

SUNY Oswego faculty and staff members build soil at the college's interactive garden and living laboratory last fall using a sustainable technique called sheet mulching. The college invites community members to help design the space at a community roundtable event at 6 p.m. March 10 in the community room of the Oswego City Library.

College Seeks Collaboration With Community On Garden Design

The goal of the roundtable event is to join community members together on the design of an interactive garden and laboratory space on the SUNY Oswego campus. The project to transform a former construction staging area on campus took its initial steps last autumn, with the goal of creating an abundant, reparative garden and learning space for students as well as the Oswego community.

RSVP To Conduct Workshops On Falls Prevention At Simeon Dewitt

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, will conduct a six-week series on falls prevention at Simeon Dewitt Apartments, beginning March 6, and continuing once a week (skipping April 3) for six weeks ending April 17. The sessions will begin at 1 p.m. and end at 2:30 p.m.

Country – Gospel Coffee House Set February 27

The United Baptist Church of Scriba will host a Country and Bluegrass/Gospel Coffee house on February 27. Come hear local talent and a special guest from Orwell. We have duets, small groups and solo artists. Guitars, keyboard, mandolin, dulcimer, violin/fiddle and possibly banjo music. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m.

Voting Open for Speed Sport’s ‘My Favorite Tracks,’ Oswego Speedway Looking to Climb in Fan Poll

Voting is now open for the National Speed Sport News ‘My Favorite Tracks’ poll, conducted annually to determine America’s favorite race tracks, as voted by thousands of race fans and motorsports enthusiasts. Oswego Speedway has placed in the top five of the poll the last two years, finishing third overall in 2014 behind only Rossburg, Ohio’s Eldora Speedway and Knoxville, Iowa’s Knoxville Raceway.
