Oswego County AmeriCorps members recently donated their time and materials to make fleece blankets for local infants. More than 30 blankets will be distributed through the Oswego County Health Department’s (OCHD) Maternal Child Health Program which helps families with babies in need.
The Oswego Players will have open auditions for its upcoming production, “Of Mice and Men,” on Feb. 24 and 26 at 7 p.m. in the Frances Marion Brown Theater of the Oswego Arts Center.
Losurdo Racing and driver Anthony Losurdo will be putting on their annual Oswego Speedway Pathfinder Bank Small Block Super racing fundraiser February 22 at Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego beginning at noon. The fundraiser will feature barbeque chicken or pulled pork dinners for $10.
Bishop’s Commons is now able to place the official Warm Up Oswego Chili Cook-Off badge on its official website, which will allow the public to recognize it as the best chili in town. A close second in the contest is Woodchuck Saloon, who was neck-and-neck with Jimmie James BBQ, who won third place.
Fulton Noon Rotary Club President Lori Greeney presented a check to Chris Green to help sponsor “Another Level Youth.” Another Level Youth is a junior high school and senior high school youth center program that meets in the Nazarene Church on Utica Street in Fulton.

Where can you go for help or advice? “Contaminated water can be a threat to your health. If your drinking water comes from a household well, you alone are responsible for assuring that it is safe,” said Jiancheng Huang, Oswego County Public Health Director.
The grassroots group Save Oswego’s Historic Sites returned to the council chambers recently to continue the fight to save the former Cahill building. “Now that the property is again available for bids from potential developers, we reiterate our position to the mayor and council to move with caution on this property,” said Mercedes Niess, the group’s spokesperson.
Jane Farfaglia, 89, of Fulton, passed away Sunday February 15, 2015, at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego after a brief illness.
There have been a number of national and local news stories reporting on the increased cases of measles. The cases have primarily been located in California. However, nationally, the number of cases of measles in the U.S. grew to 635 in 2014, more than the past four years combined, according to the Centers for Disease Control. In New York, there were three confirmed cases of measles this year. Other preventable diseases also made a comeback in recent years.
Margaret E. “Peg” Myhill Frost, 88, of Fulton, passed away Sunday February 15, 2015, at Michaud Residential Health Services in Fulton.
