Rudy’s Lakeside Drive-in will provide the Oswego County Salvation Army’s Guest Chef Dinner on March 18, with dining room and take-out service from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The meal will include clams, fish, coleslaw, salt potatoes, and macaroni salad, along with desserts and beverages provided by members of the advisory board.
At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club meeting, Rotarian Linda Rossiter introduced Steve Chirello representing the Literacy Coalition of Oswego County. He showed a video that highlighted the problem with 20% in our county reading below fifth grade levels leading to life-long social and economic deficiencies.
At the 99th annual Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce annual meeting held March 5 at the River Vista Center in Fulton, Executive Director Greg Mills presented Fort Ontario State Historic Site with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of 260 years as a member of the Oswego County business community. Fort Ontario and the Port of Oswego Authority represent Oswego County’s oldest active businesses.
Replacement batteries have been mailed from the Oswego County Emergency Management Office to county residents who have an emergency planning tone-alert weather radio. Director Dale A. Currier said that replacement batteries are mailed to residents on an annual basis to ensure proper operation of these radios.

The National Association for Music Education the month of March as a time to recognize the impact music has within our schools.
UPDATE: They are not sure how many people were living there or if it was a fraternity house. They are looking into whether this is an official fraternity house. The fire is under investigation and OFD still has personnel on the scene searching for the origin and cause.
Oswego Fire Department crews were dispatched to a structure fire just after midnight at 110 W. Bridge St., near West Eighth Street. First arriving crews reported smoke showing from the two and a half-story multi-family dwelling, with the duty officer reporting an active fire seconds later.
