DuFore’s Jewelers Donates Lighthouse Necklace for Auction
DuFore’s Jewelers of Oswego has donated an exquisite necklace depicting the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse to be auctioned at the Lighthouse Day Auction on April 25. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Lighthouse Restoration Project. The lighthouse necklace has a $695 value and is entirely sterling silver.

OCO Nutrition Services Awarded ‘Share The Love’ Grant
OCO Nutrition Services partnered with Meals on Wheels America and the “Share the Love” program this past holiday season to raise funds and awareness of senior isolation and hunger in Oswego County and to help feed seniors through its home delivered meals program and at its Dining and Activities Centers.

Library Learning Center Offers Three-Part Internet Basics Class
The Oswego Public Library’s Library Learning Center will offer a three session Internet Basics workshop on May 4, 11 and 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. This free workshop will include topics such as how to connect to the Internet, how to use a web browser, searching for information, online privacy and safety, email and social media.

Big Turnout Helps Support OCO’s Crisis Services Programs
Dozens of bowlers saddled up on Saturday to help Oswego County Opportunities corral some much-needed funding. “This is one of our major fundraising events,” Betsy Copps, OCO director of information and compliance, said of the Rodeo Bowl at Lakeview Lanes. OCO has held the bowling fundraiser every spring for more than 10 years. Copps said that about 30,000 people receive services annually in the county. “That’s about one out of every four people according to population standards,” she added. “So it is very possible it could be helping someone you know.”

Salvation Army Plans Tasty Fundraiser
On April 23 from 12:30 to 10 p.m., the Oswego County Salvation Army will hold a fundraiser at YoBerry Frozen Yogurt Bar in Oswego, where a percentage of proceeds will go to support the Salvation Army’s Long Point Camp Campaign.

DSS Hosts May 4 Orientation Meeting for Future Foster and Adoptive Parents
The Oswego County Department of Social Services will host an informational meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. May 4, at the DSS office, 100 Spring St., Mexico, for people who are interested in becoming foster or adoptive parents. Head Start Pre-K program goal is promoting school readiness through hands-on learning experiences, active play, and nutritious meals and snacks. Staff include teachers with masters or bachelor’s degrees in education, teaching assistants, classroom aides, family advocates, cooks and nurses.
