A new line of Oswego Speedway merchandise is now available leading up to the 65th annual season opener at the Steel Palace on May 9 presented by Planet Fitness and Mitchell’s Speedway Press. Three new T-shirts are currently available.
SUNY Oswego’s theater department will open Tom Stoppard’s “Arcadia” on April 24 offering audiences two separate casts and their interpretation of a play with highlights of humor, moments of melancholy and thought-provoking passages. “Arcadia,” often called the masterpiece of the Czech-born British playwright, will run at 7:30 p.m. April 24 and 25 and the following Saturday, May 2, closing with a matinee at 2 p.m. May 3.
Twenty high school automotive students from across New York State will travel to Morrisville State College May 7–8 to participate in the State Finals of the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition.
Among the cast members of the Oswego Players’ upcoming production of John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men” is Tucker, a four-year-old, mixed breed dog. Tucker plays Candy’s dog in the play.

Donald R. Burdick, 53, of Oswego, passed away Monday April 13, 2015, at Oswego Hospital.
Students in Robyn Yorker’s Stepping Stones Day Program class recently participated in a Kids Writers Contest sponsored by the Public Broadcasting Station of Watertown. The students’ stories have been compiled into a bound book that can be enjoyed by everyone in the school library.
SUNY Oswego Metro Center’s branch of Tyler Art Gallery will feature “The Adventures of Ignatius the Iguana,” illustrations by alumna and former art faculty member Sarah Haig, from May 1 to June 26.
Local merchants and community members alike come together in support of the upcoming “Love Our Lighthouse Day,” an event being held by the H. Lee White Maritime Museum. The goal of this day dedicated to Oswego’s beloved lighthouse is to re-ignite the spark with which residents once acclaimed the former protector of Oswego’s shores.
Area mayors and elected officials donned their March for Meals hats and showed their support for OCO’s Meals on Wheels program during OCO’s Community Champions Week. Community leaders and members of OCO’s administration department also participated as community champions helped deliver meals to home bound seniors in Oswego County.
